Sometimes contractors have to improvise to make their existing equipment handle a special job. Different types of attachments can turn a regular machine into the perfect solution.
Paul Wever Construction Equipment (PWCE) provided tools that allowed an excavating contractor to finish a difficult demolition job.
Rod Tschigfrie of Tschigfrie Excavating needed to use his Link-Belt 5800 excavator to reach 70 feet and reach up and over with no extra counterweight. PWCE offered its High Reach Demolition System, which included a 20-foot Demolition Extendavator and Demolition Dipper. The two-stick design allowed the operator to reach up to five stories with a 100,000-pound class machine.
According to Tschigfrie, "It made it safer to do my work, and it was more controllable than using a wrecking ball."
Ad additional feature of this System is its versatility. When not being used for demolition, the end-user can take off the Extendavator, put it on a 40,000- to 70,000-pound excavator, and use it like a long-reach machine. The Dipper is designed to handle a bucket for dredging.
