N.C. Crowns Apprentice Champ.

Heath W. Drye, C.M. Allmon Masonry, Mt. Pleasant, is the 2005 North Carolina Department of Labor State Fair Masonry Apprentice Contest champion. He is joined at his winning project by N.C. Commissioner of Agriculture Steven W. Troxler; third-place finisher Travis Greenly, McGee Brothers, Monroe;

second-place finisher Joshua Ferguson, Griffin Masonry, Charlotte; and N.C. Commissioner of Labor Cherie K. Berry.

The Carolina masonry industry donated more than $7000 in cash, tools, and materials for the 52nd annual event. Calvin Brodie, Brodie Contractors, Raleigh, served as contest chairman, and Doug Burton, Whitman Masonry, Benson, was the head judge.
