Lung Association Offers ``Builder Training:'' New Standard Set for Healthier Homes in State.

TULSA, Okla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 2, 2003

The American Lung Association of Oklahoma (ALAO) is offering Health House Builder Training on May 14-15 at the Waterford Hotel, 6300 Waterford Boulevard in Oklahoma City.

Builders, architects

and home designers throughout the state are encouraged to attend.

The American Lung Association (ALA) Health House Advantage(R) program is a national educational program on designing, building and maintaining a healthier, energy-efficient home in a variety of climates. Founded in 1993, the ALA Health House program utilizes builder training, consumer education and ongoing public information campaigns to accomplish its ultimate goal of creating a new standard for healthier homes in America.

The cost to attend is $275 and includes a continental breakfast for both days. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and conference times are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pre-registration not required. The Oklahoma State Home Builders Association has approved this training for nine hours of continuing education credit toward its Professional Builder Certification.

Discussion topics for the event include basic building science, site considerations, building envelope, finishes and furnishing, mechanical equipment and commissioning. Scheduled speakers are:

Building scientist, educator and president of Camroden Associates, a New York-based company providing analysis, research and training services to the building and research communities.

-- Richard J. Shaughnessy, Ph.D.

The University of Tulsa's program manager for indoor air research and the university's spokesperson on issues related to indoor air quality since 1987.

-- Vernon McKowns

President and co-owner of Ideal Homes, the fastest growing new home builder in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area.
