Architecture and planning firm Concordia will help create a master plan to guide renovations and construction for public schools in Orleans Parish.

Concordia, 201 St. Charles Ave., and international management and planning firm Parsons will help the Recovery School District and the Orleans Parish School Board develop a school facilities master plan.

Responsibilities range from developing standards for school facilities to anticipating enrollment and capacity to evaluating existing facilities.

The master plan will incorporate recommendations of the Unified New Orleans Plan, observe stronger building requirements from the Louisiana Recovery Authority and new flood elevation standards. The firms will also hold workshops throughout the planning process.

After hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Concordia led formation of the $10-million UNOP, a citywide planning project for hurricane recovery.

RSD operates 22 schools and 17 charter schools serving more than 17,000 students. The Orleans Parish School Board operates five schools and 12 charter schools serving more than 9,000 students.
