Business Forum Held

On October 24 Barton Malow, Skanska, and Beaumont Hospitals held a Minority and Women's Informational Forum. The forum, which took place at Beaumont Hospital in Troy, was held to assist minority-owned and women-owned businesses in successfully bidding work for the Beaumont, Troy expansion project.

More than 180 people representing 150-plus minority-owned and women-owned businesses attended the forum. The agenda included remarks from Gene Michalski, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Beaumont Hospitals, Ben Maibach III, president and chief executive officer of Barton Malow Company, and David Reece, vice president of Skanska USA Building.

Presentations outlining expansion opportunities, campus additions, project timelines, and project costs were given by Jennifer Macks, Barton Malow ¦ Skanska project director, and John Krolicki, director of Facilities Development for Beaumont Services Company.

Barton Malow Company's Business Diversity Manager Cheryl Bowlson, Skanska's National Diversity Director James Threalkill and Beaumont Hospital's Diversity Director Lauren Hill all expressed their companies' commitments to maximizing the participation of minority-owned and women-owned business enterprises in the bidding process. They also welcomed attendees input as to how their respective organizations and the minority-owned and women-owned businesses can work together to grow their capacity and improve the communities in which we operate through business diversity.

The company specializes in meeting the facility needs of industrial, energy, health care, educational, and special event facility owners nationwide.
