UCSD Biomedical Library

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. (www.mccarthy.com ) recently broke ground on the renovation and expansion of the Biomedical Library for the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) in La Jolla.

McCarthy is serving as the construction manager/general contractor for the $13.3-million project. Hardy, Holzman Pfeiffer & Associates, based in Los Angeles, is the project architect. Completion is slated for 2006. The project encompasses the addition of 39,600 square feet of space to the existing biomedical library, as well as the renovation of the attached Biomedical Library structure. Upon project completion, the facility will be one contiguous space, totaling 74,690 square feet, and will feature state-of-the-art technologies and spaces.
