High-Tech Hospital for Happier Patients

A hospital in Mansfield, Texas, is being built to support the newest wave in patient care—all-digital technology. The Methodist Mansfield Medical Center, a $132 million structure to be completed in December 2006, is designed as a paper-light facility with technologies such as electronic medical records and digital imaging technology to provide faster patient care with fewer medical errors. The medical center includes a 287,000-sf acute care hospital and a 72,000-sf medical office building. The hospital will open with 80 beds and expects to grow to 150 beds within 10 years. Baltimore-based RTKL is the project's architect, and Centex Construction, Dallas, is the general contractor.
