DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 5, 2002

On Saturday, at the National Associated Builders and Contractors annual convention in New Orleans, Centex Construction Company walked away with three national "Excellence

in Construction" Eagle Awards. The projects recognized were American Airlines Admirals Club, University of Texas Medical Branch Radiology Renovation, and Children's Medical Center of Dallas Cafeteria.

The American Airlines Admirals Club is a 27,000 square foot premium passenger facility. Incorporated finishes are European stone, metal, and glass, and native Texan artwork. Features include music listening stations; work carrels; computer, phone, fax, and printer access; Internet cyber-cafe; showers; kids room; workout room; coffee stations; and a bar. This project won the commercial $10 to $25 million category.

At the University of Texas Medical Branch, Centex completed a radiology renovation that included interior renovation of facilities occupied by UTMB's Radiology Department. Construction occurred in four sequential stages, allowing for installation of Owner furnished equipment and multiple phased user moves. The work was staged to allow medical facility operations to continue during renovation. This renovation project was awarded the Eagle in the renovation $10 to $99 million category.

The Children's Medical Center of Dallas Cafeteria project competed in the under $2 million commercial category. The project involved a complete upgrade of a 6,000 square foot, 20-year old functioning cafeteria into a modern servery and dining area for patients, family, and staff. A focal point of the cafeteria is a toy train suspended from the ceiling.

"We are so excited about receiving three national Eagle awards. Tonight is evidence of how we continually work to exceed our client's expectations. Getting industry recognition is a true honor, but the greatest indicator of success is a client who wants to do further projects with us," said Anthony Lauchner, project manager on the American Airlines Admiral Club project.

ABC's Awards of Excellence Program is acknowledged as the premier competition within the construction industry for outstanding construction projects across the nation. The awards are announced each year at the annual national convention, and each project must have won first place on a local regional level before being eligible for national consideration.
