Chicago Board of Trade constructing expansion.(Brief Article)

Construction has begun on a 240,000-sq.-ft. addition to the Chicago Board of Trade. Chicago-based Stein & Co., the project's design/builder, is guaranteeing the project's $123 million construction budget and on-time completion. Occupancy is scheduled for February 1997.

The expansion will provide 60,000 square feet of additional trading area. In conjunction with the exchange's existing facilities, this will create a trading floor of nearly 90,000 square feet, which reportedly wilt be the world's largest.
