MonteIl picks Berre for new technology PP plant

Montell has selected Berre, France, as the location for its much talked-about new-technology polypropylene plant. Using the company's Spheripol technology, the new plant will have a capacity of 250 000 tonnes/year and will be capable of producing a full range of homopolymers and copolymer products. Montell has been signailing its intention to build a major new plant in Europe since the company was formed a year ago by the merger of most of Montedison and Shell worldwide interests in polypropylene, and it badly needed to up-grade its European facilities.
