Mar. 16--Past met future Monday morning as two enormous pieces of high-tech machinery traveled under the storied Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma on a journey up the Alabama River to the new Hyundai plant under construction in Montgomery.

The crown and the bed, as they're called, weigh more than 260,000 pounds apiece and represent the two largest components of a stamping press that will be used to make metal parts such as doors and roofs for Hyundai vehicles.
