Lurgi says that Atlas will proceed.(Lurgi GmbH)(Brief Article)

German engineering company Lurgi says that following the successful completion of the 850,000 t/a Titan methanol plant, it will proceed with the "rapid development" of the 1.65m t/a Atlas project at the Point Lisas site. The plant will use Lurgi's 'Mega-Methanol' technology, first unveiled at the World Methanol Conference in Frankfurt in 1998. Lurgi says that construction will begin in 1Q 2001. Atlas, like Titan, will be a joint development between BP Amoco, Saturn Methanol (now owned by Methanex), and the New York-based Beacon Group Energy Investment Fund.
