PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Canada-based METHANEX is currently gearing-up to build its 4th methanol plant at its existing complex in Punta Arenas, Chile. In so doing, the company recently awarded the construction contract to Germany-based LURGI AG.

According to the terms of the award, LURGI will be responsible for building a factory with an installed production capacity of 840,000 metric tons per year. In so doing, the German company will also provided its proprietary synthesis gas process and its 2-step MegaMethanol technology.
