EGYPT: Construction contract award for planned large-scale ammonia/urea plant, UHDE GMBH...

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The local HELWAN FERTILISER CO. (HFC) recently awarded a turnkey construction contract to Germany-based UHDE GMBH for a new ammonia/urea plant. Construction plans call for building a facility with an installed production capacity of 1,200 tons per day (t/d) of ammonia and 1,925 t/d of urea.

The ammonia plant will be based on UHDE's proprietary process while the urea plant will be built according to Netherlands-based STAMICARBON's synthesis and granulation technologies. Catalysts for the ammonia plants will be supplied by the UK's JOHNSON
