QATAR: Construction contract award for planned $700,000,000 Greenfield aluminum smelter move...

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The local state-owned QATAR PETROLEUM & HYDRO ALUMINIUM A.S. recently awarded a new aluminum smelter construction contract, dubbed Qatalum, to the Canada-based SNC-LAVALIN GROUP INC. Under the terms of the award, SNC will be responsible for the provision of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for the new facility to be sited in Mesaieed, Qatar.
