PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Germany-based BASF AG recently decided to move ahead with its long-stalled Mexican copolymer plant construction plans. In so doing, the company is now planning to build a complex with an installed production capacity of 45,000 metric tons per year. Production output will consist of styrene-batadiene-styrene (SBS) copolymer. The new factory, of undisclosed cost, is to be sited at Altamira.

Project completion is scheduled for some time around the beginning of the year 2003.
