Several years ago Vincent Wolanin decided he wasn't going to fly commercial any more. So he hired a pilot and bought a Gulfstream jet. Then he got his first repair bill for a quarter of a million dollars. The president and CEO of Wolanin Cos., a conglomerate of real estate, construction and building materials companies, decided this was a business he needed to get into.
