AGC Of Kansas Hosts 70th

The Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Kansas held its 70th Annual Convention in Wichita in February, electing officers for 2004 and honoring winners in the State Building Awards Program.

Wayne Sloan, of BHS Construction Inc. in Manhattan, was elected president of the association. Other

officers elected include Vice President Rick McCafferty of Key Construction Inc. of Wichita and Treasurer Joe Levens of Martin K. Eby Construction Co. of Wichita.

New members named to serve on the board of directors include: Neil Fisher, Kansas Building Systems Inc., Topeka; Mike Morrand, Triangle Builders LLC, Paola; Steve Paul, Paul-Wertenberger Construction Inc., Hays; Doug Hutchinson, Vincent Roofing Inc., Topeka; and Tighe LaRue, Salisbury Supply Co., Inc., Topeka.

Awards

In the State Building Awards Program, 11 member companies were honored for the use of innovative construction techniques and outstanding workmanship.

The Law Company Inc. of Wichita was awarded the Judges Choice Award and an Award of Excellence for its work on the Church of the Magdalen and School in Wichita and an Award of Honor for Cornerstone Village in Pittsburg.

Martin K. Eby Construction Co., Inc. of Wichita received the Judges Choice Runner Up Award and an Award of Excellence for the renovation of Sterling College's Cooper Hall. The company also received an Award of Honor for the new construction of Winfield Medical Arts and an Award of Merit for the Calvary United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Wichita.

Hutton Construction Corporation of Wichita received an Award of Honor for its work on Westlink Christian Church in Wichita.

Key Construction Inc. of Wichita received an Award of Excellence for the Alford Branch Regional Library in Wichita. The company also received an Award of Merit for the new construction of Grene Vision Group LLC in Wichita and an Award of Merit for Old Town Square in Wichita.

Simpson & Associates General Contractors Inc. of Wichita received an Award of Excellence for Water and Sewer Department Mains and Sewer Renovation in Wichita and an Award of merit for Chapel of Mercy, Memory Care and Assisted Living Residences in Wichita.

Conco Inc. of Wichita received an Award of Merit for Butler County Community College 5000 Building Remodel in El Dorado.

Murray & Sons Construction Co, Inc. of Topeka received an Award of Honor for Washburn University Stadium Renovation in Topeka and an Award of Merit for the Air Traffic Control Tower and Base Building at Forbes Field in Topeka.

Mohan Construction inc. of Topeka received an Award of Honor for Christ the King Multi-purpose and Meeting Room Addition in Topeka.

Dondlinger & Sons Construction Co., Inc. received an Award of Excellence for the Wichita Art Museum Expansion/Modification and an Award of Merit for the new construction of Triangle Dialysis Center LLC in Wichita.

Sunflower Builders Inc. of Manhattan received an Award of Excellence for the Historic Rehabilitation of Santa Fe Depot for the Marion County Library in Marion.

Commerce Construction Services Inc. of Wichita received an Award of Excellence for the new construction of Lansdowne Dental Office in Wichita.
