Building Contractors Announced 2006 Build New York Awards

The General Building Contractors of New York State announced the winning entries in its 15th annual Build New York Awards competition, which is held to honor New York construction projects.

  Hearst Tower, New York City

• Winner — Renovation Project:

  Restoration and Renovation of Asbury Delaware Church, Buffalo

• Winner — Renovation Project:

  MLB Construction Services, LLC, Malta

  College Park Hall, Union College, Schenectady

• Winner — New/Renovation Project:

  LeChase Construction Services, LLC, Rochester

  Beck Center and Statler Auditorium, Cornell University Statler School of Hotel Administration, Ithaca

• Winner — Innovation in Project Delivery:

  LPCiminelli Inc., Buffalo

  Buffalo Public Schools, Phase I, Buffalo

• Honorable Mention — New Project:

  BBL Construction Services, LLC, Albany

  Glens Falls Hospital Northwest Tower, Glens Falls

"Risk-taking constructors leading the way with excellent project management and good safety experience continue to provide owners with the quality projects they seek," said GBC Executive Director Jeffrey J. Zogg. "They are the key to success in today's thriving construction industry," he added.

The Build New York Award winners are selected based on outstanding managing skills, imagination, overcoming challenging and unusual circumstances, scheduling accomplishments, and project innovation by the contractor/manager and the entire project team including the project owner, architect, subcontractors, and suppliers. All project entries were reviewed and judged by a 12-member jury. The winners will be honored at a gala awards presentation on Thursday, November 2 at The Church, Buffalo.

The General Building Contractors of New York State is a leading construction trade association in New York, and is the New York Building Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America. The GBC represents over 180 construction firms in New York, and has over 300 members in total including general contractors, specialty contractors and associate members.
