FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Lafayette, Colo., officials recently selected Heath Construction, a leading contractor for municipal and commercial buildings along Colorado's Front Range, to construct the community's new $4.6 million, 24,000-square-foot police facility -- the result of a highly
"We chose Heath for this job because they met our pre-qualification criteria. Heath has a good reputation and good experience with building public facilities in northern Colorado," said Gary Klaphake, City Administrator for the City of Lafayette. "In the end, we chose Heath because they gave us the best bid."
"Winning Lafayette's bid and gaining the city's confidence confirms the value Heath brings to municipalities working on tight budgets," says Randy DeMario, president of Heath Construction. "I am extremely proud of our veteran estimating team. With many years of frontline experience in construction, they have the expertise to work closely with architects and owners to find ways to trim costs while maintaining the integrity of the building design."
In 2004 the citizens of Lafayette, a fast-growing city of 25,000 people, voted to authorize construction of a new police facility. The new building will replace a cramped and outdated 4,800-square-foot building that currently serves as police headquarters for 39 officers and up to 22 civilian employees and volunteers.
The new facility Heath Construction will build will provide the city with a municipal court, additional holding cells and upgraded offices for police officers and administrative personnel. The new police headquarters will feature state-of-the-art internal and external security measures.
According to DeMario: "Heath Construction has always worked in partnership with other construction professionals for the benefit of our clients. This time it was Heath's Chief Estimator Chris Claflin, DLR Architect Ed Bledowski and Owner Representative Kevin Gibbs who worked together as a team to bring this Lafayette project into budget."
