National Assn. of Women in Construction names Eugene builder Woman of Year

Oregon demolition contractor Jeanne Staton was named Outstanding Woman of the Year by the National Association of Women in Construction and the Del E. Webb School of Construction at Arizona State University.

Staton, a principal at Eugene-based Staton Cos., accepted the award Oct. 26 in

Scottsdale, Ariz., at the NAWIC/Del E. Webb 50th Anniversary Dinner.

Staton was the first woman to be elected president of the Associated General Contractors Oregon-Columbia Chapter in 2003 and is an advocate for work-force development programs designed to attract young people, women and minorities to the construction industry.
