ASDH Series 5-10-Watt Open Frame Isolated DC/DC Converters

Full safety standard approval

The ASDH Series 5, 7 and 10-W dc/dc converters are approved to EN60950 and UL60950-1 SELV standards. The series has 48 models with 4 to 1 input ranges of 9-36 and 18-75V dc. They also have single and dual outputs from 3-15V dc. They can run over a range of -25 to 71C without extra forced air cooling or power derating, using an integral finned heatsink in an open-frame construction. The SCP-X power supply can deliver 24V dc power in the <100-W range from a machine-mounted IP67-compliant package that resists dust, water and other contaminants. It can be mounted right on a machine, needing no stand-alone cabinet and less cabling. It can take a beating, with a die-cast aluminum casing that resist shocks up to 3g, and dissipates enough heat to work from -40 to 60C. It measures 4.7 × 7 × 1.8 inches and weighs a little more than 2.5 lb. It comes with standard DIN Mini connections. Made for pumps, contact sensing, variable force control and other low-force applications, the FS20 cells are available for compression forces from 750-1,500 gm, and offer a 1-4 V FSO and a 10 lbf overrange limit. They offer combined linearity, hysteresis and nonrepeatability performance to ±1 percent FSO. They measure direct force for tighter control of device thickness and platform parallelism with respect to the instrument base. They are made with Microfused™ technology, using micro-machined silicon piezoresistive strain gages fused, with high-temperature glass, to a stainless steel flexure. Designed to handle irregular shapes

Made for HVAC controls for commercial refrigeration, programmable thermostats, hot tubs and spas, medical devices and other applications, this new backlighting technology uses patented UniGlo® fiber optics to make membrane switches with shapes that go beyond the standard rectangles. They put out a brightness as high as 75 Ft-L, and use 2/4V dc of power, or 5-30 mA for a single-LED backlight. They put out no heat, EMI or ESD, and resist moisture and heat. They can take over 5 million actuations and can run up to 100,000 hours depending on the LED light source. Prices range from $0.70 in 100,000 quantities for a 0.40 × 4-inch viewing area panel with no LED, up to $4 in 5,000 quantities for a 1.35 × 3.5-inch viewing area panel with one white LED each.

These cam-operated rotary switches are made for on-off, changeover, multi-step, ammeter, voltmeter, and motor reversing control and load break applications. They come with up to 10 poles and six positions, and are rated from 10-32A. They can be installed in standard 22.5 mm (7/8-inch) mounting holes. Crystek CVS575 SMD Voltage Controlled SAW Oscillator

High performance and easy to interface

This 622.08 MHz voltage controlled SAW Oscillator is made for high-performance PLLs. The lead-free oscillator comes in a 5 × 7.5 × 2.5 mm SMD package, and has a phase noise offset at -130 dBc/Hz @ 10 KHz for 150 fS (RMS) max jitter for SONET OC-192 (50 KHz to 80 MHz). It runs from a 3.3V power supply at a range from -45 to 85C, with complementary LVPECL outputs. There’s no need to convert to LVPECL logic to turn the output on and off, since the enable/disable function works with CMOS logic levels. Prices are about $45 each for commercial temperature range models in small volumes.

Taiyo Yuden NR6012 SeriesPower Inductors

High current rating in a small package

These inductors have a low profile, at 6 × 6 × 1.2 mm in size, made for dc-dc converter choke coil applications in LCD panels of laptop computers. They have dc resistance ranges from 0.092 to 2.18μ and inductance ratings from 3 to 100 μH, plus a 1730 mA current rating. The inductors use a sleeveless square-core winding to thicken the lead wire inside the inductor for low dc resistance, but save space at the same time. They also have a ferrite-based resin covering, and the highest available current rating in the industry of 1A at 10 μH inductance.

Humphrey “Spider” Valves

Much smaller than ordinary valves

Humphrey’s “Spider” valves have practically frictionless movement, high life cycle and a fast response time thanks to a compact, flat armature design. They come in 7, 15, and 21 mm sizes, in 2 and 3-way versions and can be placed into a subbase or custom manifold. They work well in low-current applications, with a 1/2W current consumption. The flat armature, when energized, is pulled against the magnetic yoke. When de-energized, the armature is fastened to a leaf spring that presses the sealing element against the valve seat.

South Bend Proportional Turbine Fuel Control Valve

Cheaper alternative to servo-driven valves

Based on South Bend’s Servoid® technologies, this single-stage, direct-acting electromagnetic, pressure-regulated proportional valve is cheaper than ordinary servo-driven proportional fuel control valves on small turbine fuel controls. It offers top fuel flows of up to 700 PPH (JP-4) at supply pressures up to 1,500 psig with a 5-8W power consumption. The valve contains a differential pressure regulator to help compensate for common variances in fuel supply pressures and backpressure from the combustion chamber. The regulator can be configured for pressure reducing (2-way) or flow bypassing (3-way). The valve has low hysteresis, high repeatability and insensitivity to inlet or outlet pressure variations. The coil is available for 24-25V (dc) operation, with response times of about 35 μsec.

Mead Power Take Off Valve

Prevents mobile equipment accidents

Mead’s newest valve comes with a safety interlock to guard against accidental engagement of the power take off pump. The valve also has a re-set port that needs a signal to be removed or applied before valve operation. The re-set function can be activated by a remote air signal or with an electrical solenoid integral to the valve. The signal can be built into the vehicle’s hand brake or another device.

The company’s range includes flat head hammer drive pins made out of low carbon steel in diameters from 1.4 to 6 mm, and lengths from 5 to 20 mm. They are simple and easy to assemble, secure as a machine screw, and don’t need lock washers to prevent back-out. Dowels include steel taper and extractable taper pins with threads for removing from blind holes. They can be special-ordered in stainless steel. The DP stainless dowel is A2 standard and comes in lengths from 4 to 100 mm and diameters from 0.8 to 12 mm, with larger diameters available upon request. The DH dowel pins are through hardened to HRC 55-62, and come in 4 to 120 mm lengths and 1.0 to 20 mm diameters. They are hard ground steel to m6 diameter tolerance, ISO 8734 DIN 6325 standard which is interchangeable with the Grade 1 tolerance of the corresponding British standard.
