Atlanta, GA—Home Depot has acquired Apex Supply Co., based here, for an undisclosed amount.
Apex, a wholesale distributor of plumbing, HVAC and other related professional products, has 21 locations in Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina.
"With
the acquisition of Apex Supply, we will strengthen our ability to reach the professional trades, both residential and commercial," says Arthur M. Blank, president and CEO of The Home Depot.
"The pro market is a major growth opportunity for us and Apex Supply's capabilities and knowledge in this area will help us improve our penetration of this business," he continues.
The acquisition will work as a partnership, whereby Home Depot will be able to draw on the knowledge and experience of Apex owners and staff. However, the companies will remain separate entities with Apex operating as a wholly owned subsidiary of The Home Depot.
Home Depot has opened several stores with expanded pro- service and the locations offer additional product lines for professionals. The Apex acquisition will also help Home Depot to enhance its extended service.
"The vision we share with [Apex] is linking Apex's capabilities and expertise with products and services to both do-it-yourself and professional customers," adds Blank.
Apex's chairman and CEO Clyde Rodbell and president and COO Sidney Rodbell will remain in place and will report to Andy McKenna, senior vice president, strategic business development, Home Depot.
