Thank you for the opportunity to write to you.
We have a great 2008 planned and I am personally grateful to have this time to write after a hectic holiday weekend. Most of us have some work to catch-up on however, McGraw Hill and other has chosen this time of year to present awards to honor others and our industry. There are no second places. I agree with those that don’t believe we have valedictorians in high school. There should be each one of us recognized who gave their best effort. We all have worked very hard this past year and should be given something of a pat on the back if not the wallet.
Ours is an industry that doesn’t reward laziness or lack of timeliness or lack of pride. It is demanding. We can certainly agree that this keeps the never-do-wells or in my generation, the riff-raff.
We are here to recognize others but, let’s take a moment to recognize us all. We work in the best industry in the United States. Not just a great industry but also the best industry.
As contractors from Texas might say, no brag just fact. (Please see my article “The Best Industry in the United States”)
This time of year we have much to celebrate. Our truly American holiday was just a few days ago. As diverse as we all are, we can certainly agree on that one holiday. There is little debate that we are fortunate to live in the United States and that we work in the best industry in the greatest country in the world.
