Well I think the sign of a really good contractor is one who asks the right questions. So it's like I don't want a contractor saying, you know, "What does this symbol mean?" I mean, you know, that kind of question. I want a contractor to say, you know, "I've been thinking about this condition here and I'm not exactly sure how it goes together. How do you think that this is going to work?" That actually shows to me that the person not only understands the drawings and understands the design intent but they also are thorough and are actually trying to make sure that the project doesn't, they're thinking ahead. So competency has to do with that. It also has to do with organization of a project--being very professional when it comes to change orders, etc., dealing with the client in a professional manner and listening to the client, understanding what their concerns are and saying, "We'll take care of it." That's the greatest line, "We'll take care of it."

It's more actually about running the job, organization, keeping to your project schedule, making sure that the payment schedule--usually we try to do biweekly payments--it's organized, it's computerized, so that you can see actually that there's a time line that's being met. Those are things I think show a--you know, are good qualities that a contractor should have.
