Borders holding grand openings for four new stores

LITHONIA, Ga. /PRNewswire/ -- Borders is celebrating the grand opening of its 20,155-square-foot store in Lithonia at the Stonecrest Mall at I-20 and Turner Hill Road from Fri., Nov. 2 through Sun., Nov. 4.

Throughout the weekend, special events are planned including

a community benefit celebration, a Scholastic Children's Festival, a Universal and Verve Music Java Jive and Jazz Party and DK Publishing's Keep It Simple Sunday. Borders kicks off the grand opening festivities Fri., Nov. 2 with a community benefit celebration supporting the Georgia Geographical Alliance. Borders will donate a portion of the sales made during the party to the organization. Throughout the day on Friday customers will receive a free New York Times or Wall Street Journal while supplies last.

At 5:00 p.m. Dominic Gaudious will give a live musical performance.

Magic Mike and Einstein will astound and amaze customers at their magic show beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Hotlanta Dixieland Jazz Band will perform at 8:00 p.m. Borders will continue the fun Sat., Nov. 3 with a Children's Festival presented by Scholastic.

Kids can register to win a treasure chest of books provided by Scholastic, and the first 200 children age 12 and under to enter the building will receive a free Captain Underpants t-shirt.

Starting at 10:00 a.m. Borders will host an hour of "Captain Underpants Extra Crunchy Fun 'N Games."

Then, at 11:00 a.m., a puppet show given by Jest for Fun Productions will entertain people of all ages.

That afternoon at 1:00 p.m. the whole family is encouraged to participate in a "From Sea to Shining Sea" sing-a-long.

Enjoy the tall tales and magical world created by storytellers Bert and Veronica at 2:00 p.m. Borders will groove Saturday evening as Universal and Verve Music presents a Java Jive and Jazz Party.
