Third Borders's Store Opens in San Antonio, TX.

Borders Books and Music will open its third store in the San Antonio area on Friday, July 27. The 22,000-square-foot store is located at 8340 Agora Parkway in the Forum Shopping Center in Selma, TX. Borders has been a part of the San Antonio community since the Huebner Oak Shopping Center and Quarry Market Borders stores opened in 1997.

In the new Borders store, customers can browse through a diverse inventory of over 120,000 titles and explore Title Sleuth, an interactive self-help computer station, which provides customized locator maps, title reviews and recommendations. They can also take advantage of guided shopping tools in the children's section and check out B-Listening, a revolutionary CD preview technology. The store will be open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday.

"We are excited to bring another Borders store to the San Antonio area. As we have done with the other two stores, the new store will serve as a cultural center for the entire San Antonio community with a diverse inventory and free in-store events that reflect the interests of the local community," said Susan Rigg, general manager of the new Borders store. At least half of all titles in Borders stores are based on regional interests, demographics and customer profiles. Similar to the other two stores in San Antonio, the new Borders store will host activities such as lectures, author signings, children's events and music performances. In the past, the Huebner Oak Shopping Center and Quarry Market Borders have hosted benefit days to assist many organizations such as the Martin Luther King Commission and March of Dimes. Throughout Memorial Day weekend, both stores hosted a special tribute to the many military men and women of San Antonio by offering them a 20 percent discount on all merchandise.

Inside the new Borders store, customers are empowered with Title Sleuth, a technology that gives access to the vast selection of in-store titles and more than three million titles in the Borders Group Fulfillment Center database. As an option to the information desks throughout the store, customers can use this timesaving tool to search for items using recommendations and lists such as new releases, best sellers, award-winning titles, family DVDs and Oprah's Book Club(R). The result of a search indicates if an item is available and where it is located or provides the option to be special ordered and shipped to the store.

Music lovers will particularly appreciate Borders' wide range of jazz, classical, blues, pop, New Age and World music titles. Borders leads the nation in selection and sales in many of these genres. And, just as book lovers are welcome to review literature before buying, Borders offers the same opportunity in the music section. The new store will feature B-Listening technology, which allows customers to preview more than 700 music titles in their entirety.
