Wood recycler looking for home.

California Wood Products (Cal Wood) of Ventura, Calif., has received an extension to stay in its current location until it is able to acquire permits to operate at a new site.

The City Council of Ventura City has granted a temporary extension of the company's green waste mulching and

processing operation for 12 months or until the company is able to acquire the necessary permits.

However, according to local press reports, a neighboring city is not being as accommodating. The city of Oxnard, which is next to Ventura, had earlier voted to request that a Superior Court in California have the recycling operation closed immediately.

In its decision to support Cal Wood, the City of Ventura says that last May the Ventura County Superior Court approved a stipulated agreement allowing for the operation of Cal Wood at its current site until the company could acquire all the permits to operate at an alternative location.

If the company is unable to receive the extension until it can receive all its operating permits, the city of Ventura will need to find an alternative site to handle its green waste, likely increasing its costs.
