Try One New Idea to Increase Sales

Have you stopped and looked down onto your business (or sales territory) from a 30,000 foot view lately? This is a simple concept but one that many people will not take time out to think about. Step away from your business and take an overview to see what is working and what is not working.

I led an adult ed class at a community college last night. We had met the previous week before as well. During the previous week's session, I talked about adding something new to how the participants did business - and showed ideas such as adding thank you notes, or colorful postcards to connect with prospects and customers.

One attendee showed me how she had a beautiful note card created in-house (which meant it cost nothing but the time to put it together) with their company logo on it. She mentioned how those in the company raved about it and wondered why they hadn't created one sooner. They are thrilled to have one now to use to increase contact with prospects and clients.

Another attendee took my idea of sending postcards to customers and prospective customers with interesting facts on them - not sales pitches. This particpant told me she received a 50% response rate from the people she sent them to.

It just takes one idea to jumpstart activity leading to sales. What is your idea?
