AUSTIN, Texas -- A first of its kind philanthropy gift card program launched by online retailer Giveline, Inc. is providing an innovative way for companies to reward employees and offer sales incentives while giving back to the community.
Giveline gift cards are a way for community-minded
Giveline.com is a socially-conscious online store which carries more than one million of today's bestselling books, DVDs, CDs and other popular consumer products. Giveline gift cards can be applied toward purchases, with all transactions generating a significant donation to the customer's selected charity.
"Our corporate partners have purchased gift cards to use for employee recognition, holiday gifts, sales incentives, customer gifts and more," said Giveline Co-Founder Brett Andrew. "Employees who received our cards appreciated the freedom gift cards afford, combined with the opportunity to support a variety of charities."
Co-Founder Brian Cruver attributes Giveline's uniqueness to its philanthropic business model. Gift card recipients and other Giveline shoppers generate financial contributions by selecting from a list of nonprofits designated by Giveline or by the buyer of the gift card. Giveline contributes between 7 and 33 percent of product sales to the selected charity, with a store-wide average of nearly 16 percent per transaction.
"Another unique aspect of the Giveline gift card program is the ability for corporate customers to personalize the card recipient's shopping environment," said Andrew. "This feature allows companies to further extend their corporate visibility and promote their charitable partners, without increasing their incentive and reward spending."
"We used to purchase employee gifts from traditional retailers," said Randy Jackson, Principal of The Planning Center, a California-based urban planning firm. "But now we can support our local community at the same time with Giveline gift cards. We're thrilled with the outcome -- a valuable gift for our employees that raises money for our favorite charities."
