Taking Charge of Your Day?

Thursday, December 6 2007

Fellow sales blogger Keith Rosen wrote nine valuable posts on how to take charge of your day, which is a major issue for sellers and entrepreneurs everywhere, myself included.I encourage you to take a look at them.

The two ideas that most resonated with me were:

#8 - Plan for Time to Plan, and
#7 - Become Process Driven

While all of the ideas are worth review, these two are most valuable to me, primarily because I am around many clients who just don't slow down to review the path they are on -- instead they just keep moving forward. Put some time in your planner for review every week - and honor that time. What is working? What isn't working? Review and change course as you move toward your goals.

Also, people get in a rut because they don't have set processes to accomplish what they are trying to do. Instead they start fresh each time, when a simple routine on a regular basis could actually free up minutes or hours, depending on what process they could put into place.

I like that Keith referred to these steps as "self management" - because our time is finite - but our actions are not. Work on managing yourself and see how you can improve your quality of your work life - then apply it to your entire life!
