Kimball Appoints Five New Officers.

JASPER, Ind.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 2, 1999--

As part of a planned strategy to achieve its office furniture growth goals, Kimball International (Nasdaq:KBALB) recently announced the following officer appointments:

-- Mona Hoffman, vice president of Kimball International; general

manager, National Office Furniture;

-- Don VanWinkle, vice president of Kimball Office Group; chief

finance and administrative officer;

-- Marc Valois, vice president of Kimball Office Furniture; general

sales manager for Northeast and North Central areas;

-- Scott Zinn, vice president of Kimball Office Furniture; general

sales manager for Southern area;

-- Dirk Manning, vice president of Kimball Office Furniture; general

sales manager for Western area.

Jim Thyen, Kimball president, says, "We are more committed than ever to strengthening our position in the office furniture industry. These officer appointments provide added management resources to help expand this core business for Kimball. This structure places additional functional responsibility, authority and decision making closer to the marketplace to enable greater responsiveness and effectiveness."

The new officers, along with existing officers John Thyen, senior executive vice president for marketing and sales, Mark Phillips, managing director of Kimball U.K. and Ireland, and George Manz, vice president, Transwall marketing and sales, set up our management structure to lead us to continued long-term office furniture success.

Hoffman will look to help grow Kimball's Total Best Solution distribution programs while also increasing the distribution of National products through multiple channels. She joined Kimball in 1994 as seating product manager for National Office Furniture. She was then promoted to seating group product manager for Kimball Office Group; brand manager for National Office Furniture; and in 1998, to national sales manager for National Office Furniture. She formerly was sales and marketing manager for Jasper Seating Co., and a sales rep for Krueger Int. Hoffman is a graduate of Watterson College, with a Retail Merchandising degree. She lives in Jasper, Ind., with her husband, Bert, and daughter.

Van Winkle will have added responsibilities as part of Kimball Office Group's growing global financial needs, including involvement in acquisitions and alliances. He joined Kimball in 1991 as a divisional controller for Kimball Office Furniture. He then became manager of sales operations, Kimball Office Furniture; and director of finance & sales operations, office furniture. In 1998 he was promoted to director of administration and finance, Kimball Office Group. He formerly worked for Ernst and Young. Van Winkle is a graduate of Indiana University, with a degree in Accounting. He lives in Ferdinand, Ind., with his wife, Martha, and their two daughters.

Valois, Zinn and Manning will add responsibilities for dealer development, distribution management and growth, and national accounts.

Valois joined Kimball in 1982 as a district sales manager in Boston. He became a regional sales manager in 1983, a divisional sales manager in 1987, and general sales manager in 1998. He formerly worked for Knoll International. He lives in Westport, Conn., with his wife, Susan.

Zinn joined Kimball in 1985 as a district sales manager in Los Angeles. He became a national accounts manager in 1987, a regional sales manager in 1990, a divisional sales manager in 1997, and a general sales manager in 1998. He is a graduate of Penn State University with a degree in Business/Marketing. Zinn lives in Dallas, Texas, with his wife, Sally, and their two children.

Manning started at Kimball in 1990 as a regional sales manager. He became a divisional sales manager in 1992, and a general sales manager in 1998. He formerly worked for Herman Miller, Xerox and Bank of America. He has a degree in Management and Marketing from the University of Southern California. Manning lives in Newport Beach, Calif., with his wife, Debby, and their two daughters.
