Aug. 18--Mark and Claudine Rubin are taking people's junk and turning it into profit.

The Rubins started their Rockville franchise of 1-800-Got-Junk? in March and have watched sales double in five months, becoming the limited liability company's fastest-growing franchise and the second-largest in North America.

"So far, we have exceeded all our projections," Mr. Rubin said. The eight-member business is projecting $500,000 in sales by the end of 2003.
