The announcement of the groundbreaking for the Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center at Stony Brook University has been delayed because of a scheduling conflict.
The center will study renewable energy sources, focusing on resources abundant in the Northeast such as wind and water.
The center is currently housed in a KeySpan-operated building in Islandia. Bob Catell, KeySpan's chief executive, is a strong backer of the Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center, which is slated top open in 2009.
The energy center is not the only one under development at Stony Brook. Construction is underway on the Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology.
