Richard I. Hersh joins PMAA as new executive director.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 9, 1995--The Promotion Marketing Association of America, Inc. (PMAA) announced today that Richard I. Hersh will become the organization's new executive director effective March 12, 1995.

Hersh has more than 20 years of experience in association management and

comes to the PMAA from Team, Inc., a full-service consulting firm specializing in association and professional society management, where he was president.

"We are very excited to have someone of Richard's caliber joining PMAA," said H. Pierce Pelouze, III, president of HPP III & Company and chairman of the board and president of PMAA. "We believe he will provide PMAA with the level of leadership, focus and strategic direction it requires as the premier promotion industry association."

Hersh has held various executive management positions including executive director of the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society, president of the International Mass Retail Association, and executive vice president of the Metropolitan New York Retail Merchants Association.

Hersh has many industry affiliations including serving on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and chairing various councils and sections of the ASAE. He is listed in the "Who's Who in Commerce and Industry," as well as "Who's Who in the East." He holds a B.A. degree from Rutgers College and has attended Oxford University, the Sorbonne in Paris, France and Harvard University.

Based in New York City, PMAA is an organization of more than 700 leading companies in the U.S. which are engaged in promotion marketing activities, including consumer goods and services companies, manufacturers and retailers. The association also has member companies that offer promotion marketing products or services such as promotion agencies, legal and consulting firms, fulfillment organizations, sampling and couponing companies and incentive marketers. PMAA conducts educational seminars and conferences, provides on-going legal bulletin regarding promotion law and publishes informational literature as part of its mission to develop excellence in promotion marketing.
