Nanosys, DoCoMo Capital, NTT DoCoMo team for nanotech wireless apps

Nanotech product developer Nanosys http://www.nanosysinc.com and DoCoMo Capital http://www.docomo-capital.com, the wholly-owned U.S. venture investment subsidiary of NTT DoCoMo, reported today they have entered into

an exclusive agreement to develop Nanosys' nanotechnology platform for wireless communications products for mobile telephone applications in Japan.

Under the terms of the agreement, NTT DoCoMo and DoCoMo Capital will fund development efforts at Nanosys and NTT DoCoMo.

DoCoMo Capital also announced its equity investment in Nanosys.

Financial details of the agreements were not disclosed.

Calvin Chow, Nanosys CEO said in a statement, NTT DoCoMo actively promotes the development and introduction of new services and technologies ahead of its competitors, and recognizes the potential of Nanosys' technology in addressing numerous emerging wireless communications opportunities.”

Nobuyuki Akimoto, president and CEO of DoCoMo Capital noted, “This collaboration, as well our investment in Nanosys, allows us to expand future opportunities for developing new mobile telephone applications. Through advances using nanotechnology we expect to increase NTT DoCoMo's position as the mobile communications technology leader in the world.”
