Carriers Will Now be Able to Significantly Reduce Costs by
Utilizing Intraco's Advanced Speech Recognition System to Service
Caller Requests for Information Services
Intraco Systems,
The service enables carriers to provide requested listings without having to handle the call employing a live operator. Users interact with the system in the same way they request information from a live operator. The system provides the requested telephone number to the caller in a user-friendly human voice. Calls processed using Intraco's system are expected to generate cost savings averaging in excess of 50%, as compared to live operator-handled calls.
Revenue from "411" calls and other information services in the U.S. was $3.6 billion for 1998 and calls handled exceeded 8 billion. "The opportunity for telecommunications carriers to realize significant profit gains is extraordinary," said Jack Berger, President of Intraco. "We expect to be able to announce our first installation later in the year. This is a very important new product for Intraco and it continues to build on our proven track record of delivering commercially reliable speech and voice recognition based solutions."
