OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. -- DeVry University and Banco Popular North America announced a new partnership through which they will offer up to 168 new scholarships for high school seniors and adult learners. Beginning in March, the partial-tuition scholarships, which target lower-to-middle income families,

will be available at DeVry campuses in Chicago, Houston, Long Island City, N.Y., and North Brunswick, N.J.

"Building a better community begins with education and we are excited to offer this scholarship to support communities with modest income families," said John Skubiak, president of DeVry University. "A college education is often financially out of reach for many families. Through these new scholarships, we hope to make a college education an attainable goal for more students."

The Banco Popular Dream Big Scholarship will be available to thirty-two outstanding high school seniors from four select high schools in each of the four metro markets. These partial-tuition scholarships will enable students to study at a DeVry University campus in their designated metropolitan area.

Additionally, the Banco Popular Dream Scholarship will also be available to adult undergraduate candidates whose dedication and perseverance will enable them to pursue their education and contribute to the community with extraordinary leadership and service. Ten scholarships will be available in each of the four metro markets. The adult learner scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to individuals who are at least 19 years of age, enroll at the campus in the designated metropolitan area, and meet entrance requirements.

"Banco Popular's support of education dates back 112 years. We see education as a means of empowerment, a way for inner-city youth to fulfill their dreams of a better life," said Manuel Chinea, senior vice president of marketing and product development for Banco Popular North America. "We are thrilled that DeVry University and Banco Popular will provide a gateway for these students to realize their potential and enable them to accomplish their academic endeavors. We remain strongly committed to supporting the efforts and aspirations of our youth and our communities."
