SEATTLE -- The newly formed Gridiron Stadium Network today announced that Qwest Field in Seattle, home of the Seattle Seahawks has joined the Network. Qwest Field is the eleventh facility to join the national organization of stadiums, each of which is home to a National Football League team.

The Gridiron Stadium Network (GSN) will promote and raise public awareness of the multitudinous capabilities of these state-of-the-art facilities. The primary goal of the GSN is to optimize opportunities to expand the use of the venues for new sports, entertainment, public and private events. Qwest Field will join 10 other stadiums that will seek new events such as concerts, music and special interest festivals, soccer, international events, non-professional football, motor sports, rodeos, spectaculars and trade shows. GSN members will also be looking for new opportunities that take advantage of the broad availability of alternative spaces open at member facilities, from stadium clubs to festival expanses to other unique areas within the venues. Network facilities can accommodate events from a few hundred people to upwards of 60,000 - 70,000.

"The Gridiron Stadium Network is thrilled to welcome Qwest Field to our organization, stated Tom Rooney, spokesperson for the GSN. "With the inclusion of Seattle, the Network now spans from coast to coast. The Network is stronger with the addition of each new facility. We are eager to provide the sports and entertainment industries with new alternatives and the best in marketing, promotions, operations, ticketing and production. We are not tied to any corporate mandate; GSN members can be aggressive and extremely flexible. It is a very exciting time for our stadiums."

"We are excited about the opportunity to combine our efforts with the other venues that are part of the Gridiron Stadium Network. It is our hope that we can attract more events to Qwest Field through this endeavor," stated Tod Leiweke, CEO of the Seattle Seahawks and Qwest Field. "While Qwest Field is best known as the home to the Seattle Seahawks and the Seattle Sounders and annually hosts several large events including WSU football, international soccer matches, the Emerald City Kick-off Classic, Major League Lacrosse, the Washington State Lacrosse Championships, we believe it can serve as an even greater community asset if we can attract major concerts and other prestigious events to Seattle."
