Cognex, the worlds leading supplier of machine vision systems, recently announced that Elval, one of the world's largest producers of aluminum, has integrated Cognex's SmartView surface inspection system at their manufacturing facility in Greece.

Elval is using the SmartView system on a colour coating line, which applies clear and colour lacquers to aluminum strip used to make beverage cans. The Cognex vision system will inspect the aluminum strip for coating defects. This is the final step in the process before the aluminum is turned into cans.
