How do you plan, prepare and deliver a major event such as the 2012 Olympic Games?
Members of Kent and Sussex branches can find out about procurement's role in ensuring the success of the games when Rob Knight, head of procurement and contracts at the Olympic Delivery Authority, speaks at next
It may be a unique event, but there are lessons that buyers can transfer to major projects in their own organisations.
Knight, with two other speakers from finance and marketing, will explain how procurement meets the challenges of such a large project and the best way to involve and work with colleagues in other functions such as finance, marketing and public relations to construct the success of the whole event. The audience will be able to question the speakers about their specific roles.
Knight is well qualified for his Olympic challenge with more than 25 years' procurement experience. Previously he has had a leading role in major projects, including terminal three at Beijing International Airport, the largest aviation project in the world.
Dorothy Holland, Kent branch chair, said: "We hope as many members as possible will join us for a fascinating insight into what's involved in setting up and running a major event like the Olympic Games."
