Synplicity(R), Inc., a leading provider of logic synthesis software for programmable logic design, today announced that it has opened a new sales office in Israel to ensure a continuing high level of support for its growing customer base there.

Synplicity's decision to expand local resources in Israel was the result of dramatic business growth over the past year with the support of its local distributor, Advanced Semiconductor Technology Ltd. (AST).

The new office, which is located in Poleg (Netanya) near Tel Aviv, will be headed by Edgar Kishinevsky, who joins the Synplicity team from AST. AST will continue to provide sales and technical support locally. Synplicity will add the support of a dedicated Field Applications Engineer, Andrew Jolley, who is based in Bracknell, U.K. Jolley has been with Synplicity since June 1999 and previously worked as Field Applications Engineer with U.K.-based Ambar-Cascom, where he provided customer support for programmable logic devices from Altera Corp.

Kishinevsky has played a key role in expanding Synplicity's business in Israel. He will report directly to Erhaan Shaikh, European Managing Director.
