MCLEAN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 3, 2001
Unisys Corporation today announced that it has received the ASSIST-2 follow-on contract from the Department of Justice (DOJ) to provide information technology support and maintenance services.
With Unisys providing the behind-the-scenes maintenance and support, federal government agencies can better allocate their resources to fulfill critical needs, knowing that their information technology systems are service-ready.
ASSIST-2 is a contract vehicle designed to assist DOJ and all other federal agencies with comprehensive information technology support needs. Under the contract, Unisys will have the opportunity to provide the following five types of support services: hardware maintenance, help desk support, asset and configuration management, cable wiring and equipment installation, and operations support.
Compaq and DynCorp are the other two vendors competing for tasks in those service categories.
"As the incumbent contractor since 1995, Unisys is pleased to continue our relationship with the Department of Justice and provide the same superior support services as we did on the original contract," said Drew Cramer, vice president, Services and Infrastructure Outsourcing, Unisys U.S. Federal Government Group. "In addition, the strengths of Unisys Global Network Services group directly address the needs of DOJ, making this relationship a logical and mutually beneficial one."
The ASSIST-2 contract follows its successful predecessor contract, of which Unisys was the sole contractor. During the five-year ASSIST contract, Unisys captured over $150 million in business from DOJ and other federal government agencies.
