One of the biggest fears for small business is that a "no brainer" upgrade to a new operating system or new software will put you out of business. That's why many small business owners will hang on to the old rather than moving to new and better technology. I know what you are feeling. It's that awful sinking, rumbling in the stomach that happens when you've made a change and now your business is dead in the water and you have no clue what to do. Ugh! Been there, done that.
Well, one of the "big boys" has stepped up to help. At Microsoft’s Worldwide Partner Conference earlier this month, Microsoft announced Windows Vista Small Business Assurance, a U.S.-based offer for small business customers interested in migrating from Windows XP to Windows Vista with confidence.
Here's the scoop. The offer provides free technical support and coaching so small businesses (defined as those with 50 and fewer employees or 1-25 PCs) can get the most out of their Windows Vista experience while resolving any technical or compatibility issues they may experience.
Customers who purchase new PCs with Windows Vista Business or Windows Vista Ultimate between July 1, 2008 and September 30, 2008 will be eligible for the offer. Support will be available until October 31, 2008. Yes, Microsoft wants to help by providing the right resources and solutions so you can effectively manage your business. Here's the support they are offering to qualifying customers:
So if you have new computers in your small business budget and were holding off because you were concerned about the risk for your business, now may just be the time to make the leap. You can check it out in advance at the Windows Vista Small Business Assurance site here.
