CHARLESTON, S.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 11, 2001
Cambar Software Inc. (CSI) announced today that Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM) is live on IMFirst(TM), powered by CSI's Axis Warehouse Management System, at its state-of-the-art Jonestown, Penn.,
CSI provides software solutions that streamline supply chain operations for business-to-business customers involved in the distribution of products in the healthcare, high-tech, consumer-packaged goods and food industries. The company's Axis Warehouse Management solution provides a best-of-breed solution to optimize operations at warehouse facilities by managing information, space, people and inventory efficiently. It is a flexible, real-time solution that helps manage the complex and ever-changing challenges in warehouse operations so customers receive what they want, when and where they want it.
Headquartered in Santa Ana, Calif., Ingram Micro is the largest global wholesale provider of technology products and supply chain management services. The Jonestown facility is the company's flagship distribution center with 600,000 square feet of space and six miles of conveyors. Implementation of the Axis Warehouse Management solution enables Ingram Micro to run its warehouse operations 24x7, increase capacity utilization in its distribution centers and manage the flow of goods and information in the supply chain more efficiently and cost-effectively.
Ingram Micro is now completely refreshing its Fulfillment, Integration and Reverse Logistics Systems Technology Platform, an effort the company calls IMFirst. In the formulation of the IMFirst vision, Ingram Micro examined several best-of-breed warehouse management systems before selecting the Axis Warehouse Management solution, which is now deployed in several distribution centers across the United States. With the Jonestown facility live, IMFirst is now managing about 2.9 million square feet of warehousing space for Ingram Micro.
The Jonestown implementation marks the fourth IMFirst deployment to occur in 2001. The solution also is live at facilities in Dallas, Chicago and Fullerton, Calif. The company plans to roll out the IMFirst solution at its remaining U.S. location in Millington, Tenn. in early 2002. That implementation will complete the roll-out to all Ingram Micro's U.S. distribution centers in less than 12 calendar months.
"This was the largest systems implementation in Ingram Micro's history. CSI stood by us and lived up to our mission to exceed our customers' expectations every day," said Jonathan Chihorek, vice president of operations, Ingram Micro U.S. "CSI has the technical expertise and an understanding of our business necessary to manage an implementation of this magnitude successfully. They listened to and delivered on our needs."
"As a company focused on providing superior customer satisfaction, we strive to be a valued partner and technology provider," said Tom Stallings, president and chief executive of CSI. "Ingram Micro's selection and deployment of Axis Warehouse Management for powering IMFirst was a strong vote of confidence for our products and our company. We are thrilled to have had a long-term partnership with Ingram Micro."
