EVERETT, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 15, 2001
Intermec Technologies Corp. today introduced a suite of new flatbed bar code scanners designed for retail point-of-sale (POS) stations.
The new MaxiScan 2300VS(TM),
For POS stations where mounting depth won't allow integration, the MaxiScan 2300VS is an ideal scanner. It can be mounted vertically on the counter surface or on a raised stand. It also can be turned to use pass-through or presentation scanner patterns.
The MaxiScan 2400HS is a durable, compact scanner that can be integrated into a POS station. The metal case and optional sapphire glass help it withstand even the harshest retail environment. It also has one of the shallowest depths in its class, making it possible to install in very tight situations and ensuring a comfortable working environment for the operator.
For stations that need both horizontal and vertical scanning capabilities, the MaxiScan 2500DP provides scanning from any direction, reducing the need for specific product orientation and improving check-out speed.
Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) anti-theft systems can be integrated into all three scanners. This allows cashiers to deactivate EAS tags with the same device they use to scan the bar codes, making check-outs even faster and easier.
"These new MaxiScan models complete Intermec's point-of-sale product suite, which includes decoders as well as handheld, presentation and personal scanners," said Dan Bodnar, director of Intermec's Data Capture business group. "Intermec has long been the market leader in retail warehouses. Now we can offer retailers that same level of quality and service throughout their entire enterprise."
All three scanners offer two interface versions, making them compatible with the most popular point-of-sale terminals. One version uses RS232C and OCIA interfaces, while the other has IBM RS485 and keyboard wedge interfaces. This flexibility accommodates multiple installations, as well as migration from one system to another. An auxiliary port for connecting a handheld scanner or scale is standard on all models.
