Retailer tech spending expected to emphasize merchandising and inventory management.(Newswire...

Retailers are expected to increase supply chain and point-of-sale technology investment moving into 2005, says a new report from BearingPoint Inc.

Although cost reduction is still a primary focus for most retailers, improving customer service and customer retention nudged cost-cutting out of 2004's top spot. According to the annual "Retail Horizons" benchmark report, retailers are backing this up by investing in technologies that help manage inventory, improve the store experience, and provide better multi-channel integration.
