Offshore Oil CFRP Composites Risers Project.

Spencer Composites notes that it now is finishing quality testing and is building a series of production risers in CFRP composites, for the Magnolia platform in the Gulf of Mexico.

Eight joints or tubulars are to be fabricated, with parts delivery due for September 2004. The composite joints will have remote sensing capability for in-service monitoring. Field reports on performance are expected back to Spencer in November or December. Each of the riser joints is 63.5 feet long, with an ID of 9.69 inches and an OD of 13.5 inches.
