LIVONIA, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 2, 1997--Officials of the nation's largest minority/woman-owned employment agency Tuesday announced the expansion of its technical, engineering and managed services with the opening of its new offices.

The new offices of ACT-1 Technical and ACT-1 Engineering and Managed Services are located at 38777 Six Mile Road, Suite 202, in Livonia.

A division of the California-based ACT-1 group of companies, ACT-1 Technical and ACT-1 Engineering and Managed Services recently received a contract from the Ford Motor Company to provide quality engineering and technical services. In addition, the company will managed some of Ford's other contract engineering vendors.

"In today's competitive marketplace, there is no such thing as one-size-fits-all in employment services, especially when it comes to engineering and technical services," said Dawn Stupar, director of managed services at ACT-1 Technical and ACT-1 Engineering and managed services, who is spearheading the expansion effort.

"Our company is best known for its enthusiasm and ability to customize services to meet the specific needs of our individual clients, and this expansion to new offices will help us do an even more effective job of that."

In addition to employment and contract management, ACT-1 Technical and ACT-1 Engineering and Managed Services also include the development of orientation, compensation and training packages; the design and administration of consolidated invoicing or integrated billing systems, and providing performance metrics.

Its custom-designed management report system also provides clients with a detailed overview of how the services are used, which substantiates consistency and, at the same time, creates opportunities for improvement.

"When a company makes the critical decision to outsource a key component of its operation, there is no room for guesswork," Stupar said. "That's why we make every effort to customize our service to meet our clients' needs."

Since the founding of ACT-1 Personnel Services in 1978 by Janice Bryant Howroyd, the company has been known as a forward-thinking firm that delivers on its promise of customer service and satisfaction. In its nearly 20 years of operation, the privately held firm has expanded from its headquarters in Torrance, Calif., to 42 branch offices plus satellite and on-site locations in the majority of the western United States, Michigan, Tennessee and North Carolina.

With annual sales exceeding $50 million, ACT-1 Personnel Services has become the largest minority/woman-owned employment agency in the United States.

There is no relationship between ACT-1 group of companies (including ACT-1 Personnel Services or ACT-1 Technical and ACT-1 Engineering and Managed Services) and ACT-1 Entertainment.
