WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 22, 2003
The global law firm Jones Day has been named as the "Best of the Best" in a survey of corporate counsel at more than 215 global corporations who were asked which law firm they thought was the most technologically savvy.
The survey, conducted by the BTI Consulting Group, a Boston-based market research and management consulting firm for the buyers and sellers of professional services, ranked 63 national and international law firms in four different categories (in order, Best of the Best, Leaders, Honorable Mentions, and Other Law Firms Cited).
According to BTI's executive summary of the survey, their objective in conducting this comprehensive study -- titled "The 2003 BTI Tech-Savvy Team" -- was "to find out which law firms are best at using technology in delivering their services. BTI's Tech-Savvy Team represents those law firms that clients identify as best at using technology."
The summary continued, "Law firms' technology prowess and strategy can add firepower to client service performance. Making clients' lives easier, while meeting their business and legal needs, is what client relationships are all about. Clever use of technology delivers on the client service promise and boosts quality."
Specific items listed by survey respondents as determining the technological prowess of a particular law firm included the following:
Truly Robust Extranets -- "Respondents tell us that the more robust extranets (provided by law firms) include a broad range of vital information, both legal and management in nature."
Database Management Solutions -- "The more leading-edge and demanding respondents are benefiting from strong database management capabilities (provided by law firms)."
Additional technological solutions that Jones Day and other law firms are using to engage their clients, boost client satisfaction, and improve their performance include:
-- Compelling, up-to-the-minute e-mail newsletters
-- Detailed, user-friendly websites
-- Custom research tools for clients
-- Specialized IT solutions for clients' internal management
needs
"Jones Day's performance in the Tech Savvy survey represents a new dimension in client service," said BTI President Michael Rynowecer. "The firm has successfully tapped into their client's technology needs and added more firepower to an already pacesetting client service performance. Clients see electronic information sharing as the best way to boost their own performance, and Jones Day clearly understands this."
"Because we all use technology every day in almost everything we do to keep connected and to accomplish myriad business and legal tasks, it is easy to lose sight of the real benefit of technology: that is, making our clients' lives easier and saving them money," said Jones Day Managing Partner Stephen J. Brogan. "We work hard to make sure we are factoring in the clients' needs every time we make an investment in technology."
